Our bodies maintain a pH of 7.4, while bicarbonate, a pH buffer, has a pH of 8.3. Studies have shown that consuming adequate bicarbonate can raise your body's pH, providing additional energy before muscle acidity impacts performance. This means you can maintain higher performance for longer, whether reaching or exceeding your threshold or pushing through the final minute of an interval.

The problem previously was that bicarbonate, with a pH of 8.3, produced gas when it encountered the stomach, which has a pH of 1.5. The large pH difference between bicarbonate and the stomach caused a strong chemical reaction when the alkaline substance encountered the acidic environment, producing gas, which was not good for the stomach.

Umara addressed this issue by encapsulating bicarbonate in special acid-resistant capsules that pass through the stomach and only release the bicarbonate once it reaches the small intestine, where it is absorbed into the bloodstream. The smaller pH difference between the bicarbonate and the small intestine reduces the risk of stomach problems while maintaining the drug's effectiveness.

Recommended intake based on body weight*

Each capsule should be taken at a dose equal to 30% of your body weight (e.g., 60 kg = 18 capsules, 80 kg = 24 capsules). Take half of the capsules 2.5 hours before activity and the other half 1.5 hours before activity. Take the first dose with a meal, and drink 500 ml of water with each dose. Dosage may be taken up to twice per week.
