Suunto Ambassador Courtney Dauwalter completed her "Triple Crown Challenge" by winning the UTMB® competition.

Suunto Ambassador Courtney Dauwalter becomes the first ever to win three legendary 100-mile ultra trail races in the same year, including the UTMB, Western States Endurance Run and Hardrock 100. And not just within the same calendar year, but within just two and a half months.

Courtney’s UTMB victory also completed her three consecutive UTMB championships. The victory was her third in the 170-kilometre race around Mont Blanc. Her previous wins were in 2019 and 2021.
"I think any time we have an opportunity to try something difficult or crazy, we should definitely take it. This race was crazy and really hard, but it was worth it," Courtney said at the finish line, just before she The moment this incredible feat was accomplished.

Courtney treated these three games as if each game was the only one of her season. She doesn't think about possible fatigue and gives it her all in every game. Her strategy paid off as she set new course records at the California Western Interstate Enduro in late June and the Colorado Hardrock 100 in July.

Courtney started the UTMB race with the same intention and no conservative pace.

"Let's race like normal and see where the road takes us," she thought.

Courtney’s UTMB victory also completed her three consecutive UTMB championships. Saturday's victory was her third in the 170km race around Mont Blanc. Her previous wins were in 2019 and 2021.

It looked like her strategy was working until about two-thirds of the way through the race. On the biggest climb, Grand Carl Ferre, she felt full-body fatigue.

"The whole second half of the race was really difficult. My body didn't want to run anymore. My stomach was a little upset. I almost threw up in the streets of Champex Lac, but luckily I held on and was able to rely on willpower Run to the finish line.”

The UTMB race begins in Chamonix, France, circumnavigates the highest mountains in Europe, passes through Italy and Switzerland, and finally returns to Chamonix to end the race with enthusiastic cross-country running enthusiasts.

Courtney finished the race in 23 hours, 29 minutes and 14 seconds. The second female competitor, Katharina Hartmuth, finished the race in 24 hours, 10 minutes and 52 seconds.
